1ST EXPORT THAT TAUGHT BABY STEPS
First Export order for Imitation Jewellery was bagged in November’2019. Excitement was on the top, but at the same time were anxious with the question mark as whether the shipment will be smooth? Question was how to export and how documents have to be generated?
Documents were generated and shipment was booked with DHL. Logistics was arranged and documents were forwarded to DHL clearance team.

First Shock – Banks AD Code registration with Customs
Clearance team was under the impression that whoever exports is ready with Bank’s AD Code, which was not true in our case. It was rush to get AD Code from bank and to get it registered with the customs. Time lapsed was 4 days due to Saturday – Sunday in between.
Second Shock – KYC with Customs
This also was assumed by DHL clearance that we as exporters must have completed our KYC formalities with customs, which was not true in our case. Again, there was rush and we took help of CHA to get KYC registered with Mumbai Customs. Time lapsed was 2 days.
Third Shock – Imitation Jewellery declaration
Though the Invoice had all the details with a description of the product, Customs called for separate declaration. The declaration for no use of Precious and Semi-Precious stones or metal. Time lapsed 1 day.
Finally, the shipment took-off and reached after 11 days against the normal reaching time of 5 days.
But like the happy ending, experience was gained.
